Strange Matter welcomes EMEFE, New York City's most exciting young afrobeat band, in their debut Richmond show. Touring in support of their debut album, Good Future (listen here), EMEFE draws heavy influence from Fela, the funk music of Sly Stone, James Brown and Earth Wind and Fire, as well as hip hop and neo-soul influences. Mixed with a rock and roll edge, the powerful and exciting EMEFE sound never fails to get audiences jumping. Also performing is Richmond's own celebrated world jazz ensemble, Rattlemouth. Opening the night is North Carolina's The Brand New Life, presenting their jazz infused afrobeat grooves. Don't miss this night of dancing, happiness, and FUNK!
